Fanny van den Heuvel
As a nurse, Fanny van den Heuvel’s goal is to include all individuals in tennis, working with blind and visually impaired players the same way she does with sighted players. Fanny is committed to focusing on possibilities rather than disabilities.
She has volunteered for over 15 years with the Red Cross, helping refugees in need. During the COVID pandemic, she contributed to the vaccination campaign in the Netherlands. Last year, she also served as the secretary for her village council.
Fanny currently volunteers with the KNLTB, her tennis federation, where she acts as both a chair umpire and line umpire at national and international levels. She first learned about blind tennis during a Davis Cup event and later served as a chair umpire at the IBTA World Championships.
This experience allowed her to watch and engage with players, coaches, and fans. She always prioritizes the players’ interests, keeping their needs at the forefront. Her wish is to serve as a bridge between players and the organization, aiming to bring about positive changes in this rapidly growing sport and enhance the well-being of the players.
